Mabalane clan names & History
According to my understanding, Mabalane surname originated due to the migration of the Mncube from KZN to other parts of southern Africa. Their surname change from Mncube to Mabalane is said to have occurred due to the kingship wars within the families. Some therefore changed their surname to Mabalane to avoid being traced and annihilated.
