Judah, Judas, and Jude are names of Hebrew origin, all meaning “praised” or “to give thanks.” Judah was one of the twelve sons of Jacob and the ancestor of the tribe of Judah. Judas was the name of one of the twelve apostles who betrayed Jesus. Jude was the name of one of Jesus’ half-brothers and the author of the Epistle of Jude.
