Ndaba was the first known Mandlakazi inkosi (chief), followed by his son Jama, who was Shaka’s grandfather. Jama’s son Senzangakhona fathered Shaka, and his son Sojiyisa was the inkosi who befriended his young nephew Shaka. Maphitha served as inkosi until 1872, succeeded by his son Zibhebhu kaMaphitha, who played a significant leadership role during the Zulu civil wars. The Nkabinde clan name is associated with this royal lineage.
