Chiya & AmaBhaca Clan

AmaBhaca abo Chiya my family comes from Eastern Cape too, actually my Great Grandfather(Chiy’obovu’ had 2 wives the one from Mt Frere and the second one from Umzimkhulu. We’re amaBhaca neither Zulu nor Xhosa just the Nguni nation which became amaBhaca under King Madzikane ka Khalimetshe!

AmaBhaca Origins; Bhaca History

AmaBhaca are descendants of Lufulwenja kaZulu who was the son of Zulu KaMalandela, he lived in present day Pongola KwaZulu. Because of this link, King Madzikane kaZulu actually saw King Shaka Zulu as his relative. Which is the one why he refused to fight King Shaka. He decided to flee south instead to present day Eastern Cape.

Last names such as Makaula, Ncaphayi, Diko, Sogoni, Mpongoma and Dabula are all Bhaca royal surnames who have same clan names like.

β€œOoZulu, OKhalimeshe, oNofisa…”

At its peak, AmaBhaca Kingdom ruled the lands stretching from Mount Frere to Mzimkhulu and some parts of Xopo. The towns of Mount Frere and Mzimkhulu even share village names. I was amazed by this really.

Such rich history bakwethu!, how i wish we would revive this Kingdom.
