Buthelezi Clan originally they are Temeni’s/ Temne not Ngoni(Nguni) or Sootho( Sotho).
Buthelezi means a Kings helper or a helper.
Buthelezi is the son of Temeni, he was born in Ethiopia and later moved to the East of Kenya with his three wifes and build his homestead that he named Ubabe ( Patience).
He then had kids and grandchildren, after sometime he was attacked by the Kikuyu Tribe that was expanding its nation and territory, he tried to resist but because of the number and strength of the Kikuyu he retreated and lost the fight.
Buthelezi ended up migrating to the Southern part of Africa and his children and grandchildren migrated to different countries such as Senegal and Malawi, but others stayed behind and left their land to seek refuge at the Coast Land of Kenya and named the place Abuthelezi ( People of Buthelezi).
Others got absorbed by the Kikuyu Tribe and they are Kikuyu till this day.
He Buthelezi the son of Temeni moved to now kwaZulu during 1200 century, he found a land that was full of Buffalos and ended up building his second homestead and named it eMcakwini ( Home of Buffalos).
Buthelezi married 5 wives in the Southern Africa from Ngoni, Sotho and Khoi, his first wife was Ngoni who was Nontotela the daughter of Luntu whom She begot the eMcakwini heir and named him Ndaba.
Other sons of Buthelezi kaTemeni who were born at eMcakwini.
Ndaba, Minyamanzi, Mlotshwa, Nozidaya and Dalinkomo.
The Temne nation is now found in Sierra Leone West Coast Land and they inhabit places such as Freetown, Port Loko, Shenge to name the few.
