this is what people have written about this Singo surname.
Person 1:
“The Nsingo people occupying the Matebeland and Midlands in Zimbabwe are Venda clans swallowed by the Ndebele and lost their language in the process.
This was caused by the late arrivals of the Singo clan to what we now call Venda, along the Vhembe river.”
Person 2:
“Hi guys, am so impressed to follow this history , how ever I am also confused because our elders told us that we originated from KZN, our for fathers were cousin brothers to King Mzilikazi and closed the Limpopo river with to Zimbabwe Matabeleland. I am Nsingo in Filabusi In Matabeleland (Zimbabwe)”
it is not exactly clear how Singo people got to where they are now and who their heros were and where they came from. This page needs more participation from the Singo people so as to add more knowledge to help everyone understand the clans history and origin.
Person 3:
The name Singo is part of the big five animals, from the elephant (Ndou). It is part of the aboriginal Mbedzi of the Venda/Kalanga clans. The Matabele found the Singo king ruling the area. The present Venda rulers (Singo) took the name which they found in the area late 17 century.
It is now that the aboriginal Singo are swallowed by the Ndebele in the present Zimbabwe and also swallowed by the rulling Singo in Venda. In the begining the Venda and the Kalanga were one and the same people living in both the Venda and Vhukalanga countries before the colonizers, who make Limpopo (Vhembe) river as the border between the present Zimbabwe and South Africa of today.
