NDHAVEZITHA Ndabezitha from the VATSONGA perspective

DEAR VATSONGA,

THIS IS WHAT ZULUS SAY ABOUT NDHAVEZITHA:
Nkwelo Major Zulu: The name is being misused, even in KwaZulu. They often refer to Chiefs as ‘NdabeZtha’.
Infact, NdabeZitha is a praise name that is found in the following surnames, Zulu, Mbatha, Biyela and Ntshangase. The Biyelas and the Ntshangases are descendants of King Ndaba kaPhunga Zulu of eGazini.
It was King Jama kaNdaba who descarded the praise name of the Zulu surname that said “Lobololwenja”. And came up with “NdabeZitha”. And ‘NdabeZitha’ is made up of two different names. Ndaba being the father of King Jama and Zitha being Mpangazitha the ancester of the Mbatha clan. These names were brought together to form the praise name “Ndabe-Zitha”. Zitha was King Mpangazitha Mbatha and Ndaba was King Ndaba Zulu. Thus we became ‘NdabeZitha’ utterly descarding ‘Lobololwenja’.
Because it sounded like an insult, but they say it was Queen MaGwabini’s name. The mother of King Zulu kaNtombela…Lol! Everyone wants to be a Zulu these days. Even abaThwakazi. I’m not surprised to learn that the Tsongas are embracing what makes us Zulus nowadays.

Where does the surname Mokoena come from? Mokoena Meaning & History

Mokoena is a South African surname. Notable people by that name include: Aaron Mokoena, South African footballer and Fana Mokoena, a South African actor.

The Origin of Zimbabwean Matutu

The name Matutu found most prevalent in the Southern Africa region mainly Zimbabwe, was as a result of their involvement in the escape of Mzilikazi from the Zulu nation ruled by Tshaka.

The Matutu’s we’re the right hand man of Tshaka being the brains behind his decision making. Their malice in planning an unprecedented fall out of a clan in the so called strong nation which was getting heavy on Tshaka found them being hunted and killed to reduced numbers.

This caused most of them to change names with the fear of Tshaka ever finding out. Most of them joined Mzilikazi in his travels north to Zimbabwe. Basically these people are to be called the builders of the now called South Africa and the freshly populated Zimbabwe.

Though in their arrival in Zimbabwe they couldn’t participate greatly in ruling, for they were promised power which wasn’t their specialty.

They only seeked to be advisors but with the birth of Lobengula who did not respect the name that had them escape from great terror, he tried to dissolve the name but by them scattering it resulted in them densely populating Zimbabwe and some continued to return North which was the region where Chief Matutu came from.
