Lefutswe Clan Praises , Lefutswe Meaning & History

Lefutswe is a surname found in both South Africa and Botswana probably in Lesotho as well, Most of the people who use the surname are along the NW and South East of Botswana. The surname was a name in the beginning and the owner of the name gave it to his children as a name.

The old man had brothers namely , Sefawe, Lefutswane,Difutso,Ditshego, Mosienyane who then fled to SA and changed his name to Mosiane and gave the surname to his descendants. In Botswana the surname Mosienyane still exist and is a royal surname. The people who use this surnames in Botswana are identified mostly around the Village of Ramotswa in the south East by Ramotswa boarder.

Their clan is found Goora Mosienyane ward in Ramotswa led by their Chief Mr. Diau Mosienyane. These people identify themselves as the black ndebeles as per their Clan Praises .
Due to survival during apartheid, survival, marriage and hunting for greener pastures scattered the initial bearers of these names, but luckly for them to be remembered they used their names as their kids’s surnames to sustain their legacy.
