They lived along the bank of the Thukela River in KwaZulu-Natal. Under the leadership of Godide kaNdlela and Mavumengwana kaNdlela, sons of Ndlela kaSompisi, they played a major part in the Zulu counter-raid at Middle Drift in June 1879 and in the Battle of Isandlwana. After the partition of Zululand, they were placed in John Robert Dunn’s chiefdom.
He spoke about the late King Goodwill Zwelithini, noting that the king gave nine farms to the Ntuli people, demonstrating the ongoing relationship between the Zulu royal house and the Ntuli clan.

Patrick, thanks for your writings in Siswati, great work there. I advise you to read the history of AmaBhele to have a good understanding of the relationship amongst many clan under the leadership of Guqa, a grandson of Bhele. Sompisi is creditef with the establishment of the Ntuli's after the great split that led to other clans going to what we know as AmaXhosa and other tribes. However, the Ntuli's and other clans kept the Bhele praisename as a reminder of their history. OShabangu, and others were in the same Bhele clan. Ningashadani ke maBhele nihloniphe amadlozi akwaBhele. There is one great leader that is not mentioned often, Masalela, uyise kaGuqa, uGuqa ozala uSompisi, the founding father of the Ntuli's as we know them today.
