This clan is still in leadership today. They were Tsonga-speaking and formed the aristocratic foundation of Hlengwe social structure, followed by the Hlungwana or Sono of the Tihlanga (reeds) totem.

Other Hlengwe chiefs separated from Xigombe and settled in the Chiredzi, Sangwe, and Ndanga areas. These were Sengwe, Tshovani, and Chitsa.
