Ngema comes from Malandela who’z lineage eventually gave birth to Zulu who started the Zulu clan. Later Shaka was born and he brought about the Zulu nation. Ngema and Malandela were brothers. They decided to move south with thier familes ftom tge Lebombo mountains on the Mozambican and Swazi boarder. During their they came at the white umfolozi rizer in modern day KZN where Malandela and his followers crossed the river in anticipation that Ngema would follower. This was at the time of a heavy rain season therefore Ngemas group stayed on the otherside of the river. While there they came a well groomed but almost abandoned plantation field, belived to have been planted by the Xulu people who were the only people living there at the time. Also throughtout African history the Xulu’s were known to be highly sophisticated in the art of farming so much that they could plant away from where they lived but still avoided animal intrusion in their plantations.
None-the-less Ngema discovered these plantation where a certain grain call imigadi was planted by the Xulu. Note this has no reference to the commonly used word today “ingadi” which is borrowed from English meaning garden. Upon the discovery Ngema and his followers were no longer interested in the journey originally set with Malandela. Malandela set further south while Ngema stayed. Through their discovery and actual take over of imigadi plantation they were soon called amaNgadi and the surname Mngadi started. When Ngema died sone of the amaNgadi took his name and made it thier surname in his honour. Ngema Clan names:
