  3. I am Nozulu, Mpofane, Kheswa, Thukela, Mpakazitha. All these form part of isithakazelo sethu. There a lot of us in the Eastern Cape under different surnames and we gather once a year as oNozulu. But there is a confusion about our roots – some say we originate in KZN and we are AmaZulu; some say we are AmaHlubi and others say we are AmaXhosa. My surname is Matubatuba, and on the basis of that some say we are from Mtubatuba, the surname has been misspelt, but my internet search shows that oMtubatuba are Mkhwanazi.

Is there anyone who can assist?

amaKheswa originate from amaNtungwa Nguni which means they form part of amaZulu. they are not amaHlubi because amaHlubi originate from amaMbo while the Zulus are amaNguni am not sure if you know the difference.
