Mbebe is currently a surname used by the following Clan names:

He was a well known traditional healer who helped Abathembhu soldiers during British and Nguni wars in early 18th century where he was assassinated and killed by British soldiers in the Easter cape, Tsolo mountains.
Due to the lack of resources back in the days he was buried on spot. His family is seeking for help to take him home back to Mount Frere.
