Where did Zulu originally come from?
The Zulu people originally came from the area around the present-day KwaZulu-Natal province in South Africa. They were part of the larger Nguni ethnic group and began to consolidate their power under Shaka Zulu in the early 19th century, leading to the formation of a powerful kingdom through military conquests and alliances [[2]](https://www.sahistory.org.za/people/shaka-zulu)[[3]](https://www.britannica.com/biography/Shaka-Zulu-chief).
