Why was King Cetshwayo exiled?
King Cetshwayo was exiled following the Anglo-Zulu War, which he fought against British colonial forces in 1879. After the Zulu victory at the Battle of Isandlwana, the British regrouped and ultimately defeated the Zulu at the Battle of Ulundi. Following this defeat, Cetshwayo was captured and exiled to Cape Town and later to London. His exile was part of the British strategy to dismantle Zulu power and control the region.
