Laba bantu bakwaNgcolosi kwakudingeka belekelele amaNgisi uma kunesidingo ekunqobeni impi yamaBhunu. Abanye babantu abathunyelwa yiNkosi uHlangabeza Bhengu mhla ziyi 14 Masingana 1902 ngoNonjanja noMagqibo.

Laba bantu banikezelwa kuMkhuzi wempi yamaNgisi owayaziwa ngokuthi ngu Officer Commanding Army Service Corps eMarizbheki yena wase ebathumela ezindaweni ababedingeka kuzo.

Kwathi mhla ziyisi 5 Ntulikazi bonke abantu abamnyama ababephoqwe ukuyosiza impi yamaNgisi badedelwa ukuba babuyele emakhaya, banikeza amawarrants esitimela ukuze bafike emakhaya bedlule eMgungundlovana. Imali ababeyiholelwa ngopondo ababili ngenyanga. Bonke abazange bakhokhelwe ngenyanga yesithupha yokugcina besemsebenzini.

Bathenjiswa ukuthi imininingwane yayizothunyelwa komantshi babo ukuze bakhokhelwe imali ababekweletwa yona kodwa lokhu akuzange kwenzeke.

Ubuhlakani bukaMepho nendawo yabakwaNgcolosi

Indawo yabakwaNgcolosi yagudla umfula iNzalathi yehla njalo kwaNtunjambili yaze yayofinyelela oThukela. Kukhona abathi abantu bakwaLuthuli bavela kwabakwaNgcolosi kodwa abanye bayakuphika lokho.

Siyaz i ukuthi ngemuva kokuthi iNgonyama uShaka ithumele uNongila Mabaso owayeyinhloli enkulu yezwe eMpumalanga Koloni, wabuya nokuthi kwakuliwa abelungu behlasela amaXhosa. Ngakho-ke uShaka wazilungiselela ukuthi impi yabelungu ithi iqambe ifinyelela kwaZulu bese ilindiwe. Ngakho-ke wahlanganisa izizwe zamaZulu. Isizwe sakwaNgcolosi esasibuswa nguMepho naso sazimbandakanya nokugcwele nokuhlanganiswa kwezizwe.

Ngaleso sikhathi abakwaNgcobo nabo base beyingxenye kaZulu ohlangene kumbandakanya bakwaMkhize bakaZihlandlo.

UNgoza kaMkhubukeli Mthembu yena wase ebalekile waphikelela eMampondweni lapho afika abulawelwa khona indlalifa yakhe yabuya yazokhonza kwaZulu.

Enye ingxenye yabakwaNgcolosi ngaphansi kukaJali yona yaphikelela phesheya koMzimvubu nabakwaXesibe nabakwaThusi. Ngakho-ke abakwaJali nabakwaBhengu abaganani. UJali wavela ngoba bayingxenye eyajabha yadangala ngenxa yezimo ezazinzima kubhekenwe nazo.

Isizwe sakwaNgcolosi ngaphansi kukaMepho asizange sihlaselwe ngalobo buhlakani bakhe bokuvuma ukuthi sizimbandakanye ngokugcwele noholo IweNgonyama yamaZulu saze sakhipha ngisho izinkomo zokukhonza eNgonyameni uShaka.
