Is there still a monarchy in Ethiopia?
The Solomonic Dynasty governed Ethiopia with limited breaks until 1974, when the final emperor, Haile Selassie, was overthrown. The Imperial family is presently without ruling status. Following the 1974 Ethiopian Revolution, family members residing in Ethiopia were detained, leading to some being executed and others being forced into exile.
